Description
This lovely infrared, black and white image, I photographed at Santee Coastal Reserve, between Charleston and Georgetown, SC. It reminded me how crucial it is to sometimes "take the long way home". Because you never know what incredible sights you're going to happen upon! Trees are just amazing creatures on this planet and I love photographing them.
I also love infrared black and white and have a dedicated camera that is converted to only capture infrared. Photographing in this spectrum can yield stunning and unique results. Infrared photography captures wavelengths of light that are beyond the visible spectrum, giving a surreal and ethereal appearance to the images. Oak trees are particularly interesting subjects for infrared photography due to their distinct foliage and texture.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
