Description
The intertwined tree roots on the forest floor of the ancient maritime forests of British Columbia create a mesmerizing and intricate network that tells the story of the land's age and its deep connection to nature. The roots of towering cedar, hemlock, and Douglas fir trees wrap around each other, creating a natural lattice of life, each root supporting the growth and survival of its neighboring trees. In some areas, the roots have emerged above the ground, forming a labyrinth of knotted shapes, like twisted fingers reaching outward. The rich scent of damp wood and earth permeates the air, while the sound of the forest’s subtle movements—a distant breeze or the soft drip of rain from the canopy above—echoes in the stillness. These ancient roots are more than just the foundations of the trees; they are a testament to the endurance and interdependence of life in the forest, their twisted paths a reminder of the passage of time in this ancient ecosystem.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
