Description
Historic Middleton Place, located along the Ashley River, near Charleston, SC, stands amidst a lush landscape of trees draped with Spanish moss. In the foreground, two sheep graze on the grass, adding a serene and natural element to the scene. Middleton is home to America's oldest landscaped gardens, began in 1741. The plantation was the primary residence of several generations of the Middleton family, many of whom played prominent roles in the colonial history of South Carolina.
