Description
This is a lovely, infrared, black and white capture of the live oaks at Santee Coastal Reserve, near Georgetown, SC. The Spanish moss adornment and the unique curving forms that these trees take, just add to the "other-worldly-ness" of their nature! I love photographing them.
The oak alleys at Santee Coastal Reserve are a true testament to the beauty and grandeur of nature. As you venture into this coastal haven, you're greeted by a mesmerizing landscape that features majestic oak trees forming stunning, canopied pathways known as oak alleys.
The alleys are composed of centuries-old live oak trees (Quercus virginiana) that stretch their sprawling branches across the path, creating a tunnel-like effect. These ancient oaks are draped with graceful curtains of Spanish moss, lending an air of mystique and a touch of Southern gothic charm to the scene.
The oaks themselves are characterized by their sinuous and curving branches, which lend a sense of organic elegance to the landscape. The massive trunks are weathered and textured, showcasing the resilience of these trees in the face of coastal winds and changing seasons.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
