Description
This solitary, one room school house stands amid an open field under an ominous sky, in rural Montana. It caught my eye on a back road just outside Red Lodge and I had to photograph it. It was established by the Hogan family in 1895, and served the surrounding ranch community until 1967. The scene evokes a sense of desolation and nostalgia, with weathered details and surrounding fences adding to its rustic charm.
